When you give of your income it is not simply a contribution, as recognized by worldly agencies. Rather, it is a spiritual transaction between you and God. God see’s the entire transaction, including where it originated, in the heart.
“Furthermore, here [in the Levitical priesthood] tithes are received by men who are subject to death; but in that case [concerning Melchizedek], they are received by one of whom it is testified that he lives on [perpetually].” (Hebrews 7:8) AMP Version
02
We affirm that the Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, is alone the only infallible, inspired Word of God, and that its authority is ultimate, final, and eternal. It cannot be added to, subtracted from, or superseded in any regard. The Bible is the source of all doctrine, instruction, correction, and reproof. It contains all that is needed for guidance in godliness and practical Christian conduct.
(2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Peter 1:23-25, 2 Peter 1:19-21, Proverbs 30:5)
03
Your Father-God recognizes your situation and realizes your “sacrifice”. It is your “sacrifice” that pleases Him because it’s done in faith in Him. (Mark 12:41-44; Philippians 4:18-19; 2 Corinthians 8:2)
04
God rewards all who give, but the measure in which he repays varies. The amount we give matters, but only in relation to His sovereignty, our heart, our faith and the proportion we give from what we have. (Luke 6:38; Philippians 4:17-19; 2 Corinthians 9:6, 8)
05
It is best to already have the amount of our gift set before arriving to church. This way we already prayed about it and it is already a discipline. If we wait to get to a church service to determine how much we will give there is a possibility for manipulation or the feeling of manipulation, followed by sorrow. It is not good to give while under pressure or a feeling obligated. (2 Corinthians 9:5, 7)
06
God does not put unrighteous burdens on us to give what we do not have. We should not barrow in order to give to God. There should be no condemnation when we are in seasons of lack and cannot give as we would like to. (2 Corinthians 8:12)
07
Don’t put oneself in a situation where we cannot give. The balance to the above principle of having nothing to give is using one’s bad financial choices as an excuse not to give to God. Greed and lack of financial disciple put’s oneself in a situation where God is last on the list of finances. The more you pile up, the less you will have (because you spend it and have nothing left to give to God, therefore He has nothing to repay you). (2 Corinthians (8:15)
08
The Scripture teaches that bringing our tithes & offerings to God is to be first on our list of where our money goes. God knows that if we put it last there will almost always be little to nothing left to give to Him. (Matthew 6:33; Proverbs 3:9; Leviticus 27:30; Genesis 28:20-22; Hebrews 7:1-4)
09
Both, obedience and faith flow from the heart. The question is, will we obey His word and will we have faith in Him to take care of us. God rewards both of these. There are times we give more out of obedience than faith, as well as times we have more faith than just obedience. Both are reward by God.
10
God rewards our giving, not how our giving is used. It’s true that we should sow in the local church we attend, first and also wherever the Holy Spirit directs us to sow. Once the finances have left our hand, we are no longer responsible for it. Finances are administered through the local church leadership. We hope it goes to proper use, but if it is misused it makes no impact on our reward. (2 Corinthians 8:19-21)
